Yoda doesn’t mess around. He tells it like it is.

“Do or do not; there is no try.”

If something scares us we often half commit by saying we’ll “try.”

Yoda knew what that meant. You’re too scared to go all in. Either go all in and do it or quit and don’t do it at all. Make a decision.

Half the battle is tossing your full commitment on the table and not being afraid to fail. Don’t worry about what other people think. You’re going to have doubters. People are naturally jealous and skeptical of anyone willing to take a shot.

There’s a good chance you will fail. Shit happens. Challenges are a guarantee. Even if you do something phenomenal, there will still be obstacles you have to conquer.

If it scares you, it’s probably worth pursuing. When you’re comfortable, you’re not growing. Big hairy goals wouldn’t be so big and hairy if they were easy.

Just imagine if you acted on that idea floating around in the back of your head and it turned out well. How would your life look? If you could be guaranteed a positive result, what would you begin today? Start a business, training for a marathon, losing 30 lbs, open a restaurant, etc…?

I’ve failed more times than I can count, but if I let fear of failure rule me, I wouldn’t have experienced the wins. Daniel and I wouldn’t have started Harvest, I’d have never run a marathon, finished The Leadville 100 or any of the other accomplishments I’m proud of in my life. If you dwell on the potential for failure, you’ll never have a shot at success.

Action Steps:

Write down that big idea you’ve been contemplating for months or years and decide if you’re going to do or do not.
