You need to hold yourself accountable. Tangible sales and marketing goals are the easiest way to measure your success and keep you motivated. Numbers don’t lie. Make sure your sales and marketing goals are specific and measurable. Don’t be vague. Vague goals are just hopes, dreams and wishes.

Examples of Vague Goals:

  • Increase Our Instagram Following
  • Grow Our Email Subscriber List
  • Launch our new blog
  • Increase sales

Better and More Specific Options For Each:

  • Increase our Instagram following to 1000 followers by April 1st
  • Add 200 subscribers to our email newsletter by April 15th
  • Launch our new blog by March 21st
  • Add 1 new tier 1 client by April 1st

Having goals will allow you to measure how your efforts are translating into results. If you’re nailing goals then give yourself a pat on the back and then set more audacious goals.

If you’re consistently missing goals it’s time for a change. Don’t throw in the towel if you miss your goals a couple times. Content marketing isn’t an overnight game. It takes patience to win this game. We’re in the process of proving that as we speak.

Action Steps:

Set monthly, quarterly and yearly sales and marketing goals. Make each goal specific and measurable so you can get a very solid idea of how you’re performing. Adjust your quarterly and yearly goals if you are way off on your monthly goals.
